Worcester (CL-144) Division
Ensign Rafter has been a member of the USNSCC for three years and is currently a Petty Officer Second Class (SK2) in the Naval Reserves. Ensign Rafter is a High School vocational teacher in his civilian career, teaching in a four year vocational biotechnology program at Minuteman Regional HS in Lexington, MA.
Ensign Rafter is the XO of the Worcester (CL-144) Division, and is also the Supply Officer for the unit. He encourages the cadets in his division to work towards success, both individually and as team members, in academic areas, physical fitness and community involvement so as to become better citizens. His Motto is “Take the action necessary for success”.
During SK2 Rafter’s Naval Reserve Career he has served onboard the SS Cape Gibson T-AK 5051 (on three different occasions) and the USNS Guadalupe T-AO 200 as a member of CART Team 1 Det C. He has participated in CONREP and VERTREP operations during RIMPAC 2006 and 2008 and during SOCALX 2007 and 2008. While on these evolutions he has delivered supplies and fuel to various USN Carrier group ships, as well as MSC, and JDF ships. He has been awarded various awards including, a Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal, a Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal, a National Defense Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, a Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and a Rifle Marksmanship Ribbon.
